Essential Functions and Abilities Required:
- Skillfully interprets and understands the components of a project and builds bid packages to capture all definable features of work.
- Ability to oversee the pursuit of multiple projects concurrently or engage in a single large project pursuit.
- Coordinates directly with project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Responsible for managing project information within our estimating outreach software.
- Can manage and track historical data on past pursuits, as well as maintain current cost data in our databases.
- Manages and distributes information during the project pursuit/preconstruction process: addendums, ASIs, pre-bid RFIs, preliminary schedules, standard contract documents, etc.
- Responsible for directly communicating to our clients and trade partners with estimate status and critical issues.
- Provide support and information to the preconstruction manager to ensure we are meeting the client deliverable dates and providing the specific requests of the RFP.
- Competency in utilizing our ITB software (Building Connected) and estimating/budgeting software (Destini).
- Ability to evaluate/level bids received by subcontractors and confidently present the “best value” subcontractor to the client.
- Assist with estimating hand-off to project teams.
- Ability to participate in constructability reviews to identify constructability issues, drawing discrepancies, VE options, etc.
- Support with project start-up and trade procurement.
Education / Experience / Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a construction estimator or project manager.
- Experience should be in commercial construction, preferably in Health Care (OSHPD), Life Sciences, Higher Education, and Office Improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, construction estimating software (Destini), bid solicitation/management software (Building Connected), project management software (Procore), and scheduling software (Microsoft Project). Experience and skills with OST, Sage/Timberline, Winest and other estimating software are also valuable.
- Interpersonal skills – ability to engage with clients, internal team members, and trade contractors in a constructive, productive way to overcome obstacles and achieve results.

- Feed critical information to the field (project superintendent and trade partners) to keep the project on schedule.
- Can competently interpret plans, specifications, and code
- Provide support and information to the project superintendent to ensure work complies with project design, code, and specifications.
- Assist the project superintendent with site logistics (trailer, temp facilities) to ensure project is set up for success.
- Manage and lead the RFI, submittal, and procurement process by working closely with our trade partners and project architects, engineers, and Owners.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate with project architects, engineers, Owners, subcontractors and field personnel with current project status and critical issues.
- Understands and recognizes quality workmanship
- Assist project manager in cost management and reporting
- Prepare and plan for weekly OAC, trade, and pre-install meetings. Document and distribute meeting minutes weekly.
- Manage, generate, and execute subcontracts and subcontractor change orders.
- Maintain up-to-date project logs including monthly project progress reports and project controls.
- Maintain our construction management software (Procore) and document/drawing management.
- Assist in managing project production and scheduling including CPM updates, mapping sessions, pull plans, etc. with project superintendent and project manager.
- Lead the closeout process including Owner training, punch list, and as-builts.
Education / Experience / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred but not required.
- 1-3 years of experience as a construction project engineer is preferred but not required.
